Does anyone know if this book is available anywhere? Given how old it is, I would have thought it would be out of copyright and be available in loads of different versions, like Erdnase, but I can't find it at all.

I believe it should be available. The older nicer copies, are probably harder to find. The one I have is photo copied pages made by EZ magic, it is in a nice hard cover, but the quality of the photos sucks, but does not completely deter from learning.

He's talking about the Stars of Magic book, first published in 1975. It is one of the best books on magic and everyone should own it. It features some of the greats like Vernon, Slydini, Bertram, Scarne, etc. Most of the effects are where a lot of the newer effects stem from, spell bound, coin assemblies, triumph, etc.
