Yo, what got you into cardistry/flourishing? Which video got you hooked? What was your first move?
For me; the thing that got me into cardistry/flourishing was magic. I first started off doing magic a few months ago (March 2007) and after seeing Brian Tudor, Dan, Dave and De'vo do their stuff (in June 2007) I was
hooked. My first move was obviously the Charlier.
What about you guys?

Daniel Chard was probably the first flourisher I saw on MVD and he introduced me to dan and dave and decknique and it all escalated from there.

Dan and dave's spring jam 2003 got me INTO flourishing, but i had always wanted to learn it but was too lazy to start until i saw that.

Jeffy Mcbride, he doesnt do much flourish no but all his performances has a slight bit of flashy stuff in it, a perfect mix of flourshes and magic. so my first move is all the Fanning moves he does in no particular order.

A very distant memory of me watching Superhandz Montage and Dan and Dave's Spring Jam 2003 back in 2004, that got me into a frenzy. Here I am, fiddling with the cards for nearly 3 years. Hehe.

I guess what got me really into Flourishing was Card Magic. I had seen so many sick videos like Spring Jam and Kevin Ho's stuff, and I just couldn't resist to start all this since I was already kinda addicted to cards thru my card magic.
The video which really inspired me was Suit yourself by Jonas Haglund (I never knew who created it 'til last week when I saw it on DN again xD - Thanks Jonas!) and Kevin Ho's youtube channel.
hm... my first move was probably the simple Chalier cut which I learned almost 2 years ago just by watching some poker video...

To be honest i was looking for some tricks and card manipulation stuff on the net some years ago and i have seen some superhandz promos.I was so amazed that i started learning right away from the promos. But after a while i realized that i won't make a diference doing only those moves and i started creating my own stuff right away.I invented the triad inside a triangle only after 3 months of ''xcm'' how de'vo called it.Then i explored more the one handed and 2 handed scluptures and i invented some more stuff that i added in some of my videos on decknique.
I never participated in HL tournaments etc because i dindn't liked the entire secret stuff...plus I'M A GOD, I'M THE BEST, I'M THE ONLY ARTIST, I INVENTED ALL stuff from you know who.
;)
I posted a challenge once for the so called ULMEN MASTERS for a 5 diferent onehanded sculptures comco and was deleted. Then i posted a video with my triad inside a square and i was banned(he said it's underground stuff that he invented..lol)
Then i started looking for another place, community and for my luck i found decknique that had great people, great manipulators, and a lot FREE stuff to learn, new ideeas concepts etc.I forgot about Dan and Dave's site...it's great but i haven't really been a true member there.
Now i hope this site will have new members with new ideeas that love this art as much as the people from DN,DND etc, and are willing to share with other people their ideeas so that we can all explore them.
That's my story in cardistry.
All i said is TRUE so please don't edit or delete anything even if someone's feeling are hurt.

Funny one for me. It was back in 2004 when I saw the Buck Twin's site linked from Oz Pearlman's old Watch Magic page... yeah. I checked out Spring Jam 2003 and I was hooked. I bought the System that Christmas hoping for it to arrive, but unfortunately it didn't. I got it shortly after my birthday in the following January and that is when I officially started flourishes.
The rest as they say; is history.

Well for me simply.....
I saw this like 10 minute video on YouTube of these guys(that seriously look like nerds) that were doing all these amazing things n stuff. I think now most of it is in the Encyclopedia. I am like "WTF is that?" The title of the video was XCM, so I went around searching for stuff on YouTube on how to do a few basics, when I ran into and fell in love(not like that) with CardShark.
First move for me was the Swivel Cut CS was teaching.

I got into cardistry/flourishes from a good friend of mine. He showed me some and I was interested so I set out to learn. My first move was the Charlier cut as well.

A while ago I saw someone perform a thumb fan. I thought to myself: "that's awesome, I want to learn how to do it." So i got an old pack of aviators (still have that deck, its like 5 years old now) and started practicing until i got it right. to this day, my motivation to learn moves usually starts with that thought, and my reward is being able to do the move to my own satisfaction. Some moves gave me more of a "i really want to learn that" feeling, the moves that did that most were things like the spring, anaconda, pirouette, and mockingbird, to name a few.

Well, Me and Kelly got into magic a long while back, back when my dad passed down the old stripper deck, then his mother bought a dvd... CRADLE TO GRAVE!!!
Spending way to much for it, we saw, we learned, then conquered!

Well I must say it is a long story, but here it goes.
I was laying in bed one day. Yesterday my friend gave me some money, but he didn't tell me what he wanted me to do with it. I don't know why he didn't tell me what to get him, or if he wanted me to spend the money any way I wanted too. He also knew that I was going on a trip to Austrailia on my private jet, so maybe he gave it to me for that, but still I was unsure.
On my way to Austrialia, the pilot came on the radio saying they were experiencing problems with the engine and would have to make an unexpected stop. But while giving the message he started screaming. I was unsure why, but I had to get up to check what was going on. As I rose from my seat, he came out of the cockpit screaming as he smashed through the door. There was a snake bitting him on the neck! I yelled "There are motherf***ing snakes on the motherf***ing plane!" Luckly we were flying low at the time about to land somewhere in Indonesia, I grabbed the parachute next to me, and the dingy package. I opened the door, put the parachute on, and jumped out, immediately opening the parachute; landing in the water. I quickly opened the dingy package and got in it. To my knowledge, I was over Indonesia, but really, about 10 miles off the coast of China!
Ten days pass as I try to work my way onto mainland China, it took a while but I finally got there, I also checked my phone, no call from my friend. As I got on land I was met by this man, he told me in fluent English, "Follow me" He took me to his house. He fed and clothed me, while I was eating, I politly asked him what his name was. Turning out to be Wuang Hung Lo. He said he was an "Extreme Card Manipulator" At first I was confused by his responce. I asked him what it was, again he told me to follow him. I followed him into this room, sitting in the middle of the table lay an unopened Jerry Nugget. He opened it and started pulling off these amazing manipulations as he called "Jackson 5" and "Sybil". He wanted to keep it a secret from me, so he didn't exactly tell me how he learned it except that some of what he showed me was on the System. I had no idea what it was though. He gave me the Nuggets as a gift.
Huang Hung Lo gave me money for a plane ticket back home. I flew back home, and when landed, my friend called me and told me to go to this bookstore to pick something up for him, which is why he gave me the money, as he was too busy to get it himself, and tell the clerk his name. I went to the bookstore as his request and told the clerk his name. As he was about to pull the book up, I looked over and saw on the shelf, THE SYSTEM! I was surprised, but I wouldn't have enough money for it after I got him his book. The clerk then look up at me with a smirk, I looked down and saw, Tiny Little Pony Adventure Strategy Guide. I then said "WTF! Screw Tiny Little Pony!" I then ran over to the shelf, grabbed the System, and bought it with that bastards money.
I then took it home, started learning, and finally went up to this mess.
Well that is my true story on how I started XCM. I hope you enjoyed it.

Oh well. I saw all the HL stuff on Youtube back in February or so, and thought it was pretty cool, so I decided to start focusing on learning flourishes. Back then I had already learnt several things such as the Charlier, though it can't be considered complete mastery.
First XB, then now the Trilogy which I'm about to get soon.

Well for me, its 10 months back. When i first saw dan and dave's system on ellusionist. Searched the internet, when to 21 ace, heard a name called decknique and it all started from there.
First move learnt? Wicked cut from allan.D then madonna 1, and blah blah blah, was at decknique daily.
Well four months before i started flourishing i was kinda into magic but didn't know where to get my resources especially when i do not own a credit card, so i had to scour the streets, until i came across magic castle( a shop in singapore). Do they sell dan and dave? no, i got a pirated copy of the system from yahoo auction, sorry but thats how i started. Then now the trilogy (don't worry, my copy of trilogy ain't fake)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_eghiC9WVc. Thats my first flourishing video. I hope to do more in the future

Well I had been doing magic for a little bit and I decided to learn kevins KFC as a cool false cut for my magic. I learned it and then found decknique and learned the pivotal cut from the tut section. Although it took a few months for me to get bit by the flourish bug I eventually did and well have been flourishing since

Brian Tudor’s Generation Extreme in July 2005. Found out the System through it and bought both (didn’t know about dananddave.com until I saw the address on the DVD). Started to practice like crazy and made my Evolution after 5 months. After that, I would say Jordan and the Bucks are the ones who keep me going.

BUCKS! I saw dan and dave, I couldn't wait to get the trilogy when it came out but I had to wait until last week to get it and now I'm hooked, especially on vertigo that one appealed to me the most cause a lot of my friends play hacky sack so now they're impressed that I can't play regular hacky sack but I can hacky a packet of cards.

you may want to kill me for this post, but what got me into magic and cardistry was the Masked Magician's tv show. I started doing a couple of magic, stopped, then I got back when I had to do a research project for school (this s when I learned about T11)

I wanted to learn a cool false cut. My first was the rotation cut. The system. When I first saw the system, I saw the cards and was like,"what kind of cards are those? they look wierd." As months passed I found out that they were Jerry's and that they were really rare.
