View Full Version : Who would you say will be the next flourishing God?

I for one do some flourishing, but not much, mostly card magic. But I can say that I really enjoy watching artist's peform their stuff. With the addition of the internet and underground venues, whom would you say will be the next star to rise out of the Underground?
My vote goes to Jordan Lapping from the U.K His style is unique and his skills are far more advanced then any I have seen. I for one can not wait to see when he makes his mark in this community!!!

To be honest, I think Jordan will have a more important role in magic rather than flourishing. The reason is simple, and he even says it himself; He has a minimal of original material. He can though, on the other side, execute a bunch of material better than the creators, and it scares me to think how he can, some day, execute his own original moves.
I might as well just quit.

I think Jordon would surprize the masses with original ideas. Like many creators have said, including myself "All you need is time, and a quiet place to think" That is how I came up with The Hanrahan Hold. Then after playing with that hold, devised Untouchable Coin Through Bottle.

And yes i also think Jordan has a good chance of becoming a big icon in magic or flourishing.

I personally think the virts, no offence. But they are up to something. Action = going further. On the other hand, i don't have any news of jordan releasing a dvd or material, though he is a flourishing god in my eyes ;)

Be open-minded guys............just because the internet seems to let you know everything that is ON the internet, it doesn't mean there is nothing you don't know of.......
....in fact, it just makes the underground even more underground, because everyone assumed they knew it all out there.
try to get into an idea that there are quite a lot of crazy people that just doesn't like surfing around the net. Who knows? :)

I agree rich, I too was once a newb, but I never made posts containing wrong information ;) I learned another way..by listening ;)
anyhow, yeah it will be a huge task, and I wonder if we are going to be able to hold it all up..as in not being overwhelmed by new people posting all sorts of things and us not being able to correct it all (at least wel have Vinnie :D). That's mainly why I want DN to stay..but that's a whole diff story :)

Wow, thanks a lot for the kind words. :)
I would like to thank all of you who voted for me, but to be honest with you, I do not want to be the next "Flourishing God".
The reason I wish this is because I do not to be known for performing good flourishes, but to be known for performing good magic. Chris pretty much hit the nail on the head and stated what I would have done at this point. My main root-focus and role right now is to continue with magic- and that's all it will be doing. I plan not on releasing any flourishes because, to be frankly honest, I do not have any to share. The reason is simple; at this moment in time I have no fun or drive with creating flourishes, and so I feel I should just continue doing the ones I love and let it be.
Magic for me is the thing I want to excel at, and that is what I keep aiming for. Flourishing is just a side-note and is something I do not want to be known for.
I vote for Virtuoso.

It will be Kevin Ho or Huron Low. If one of them doesn't make it no one will.
And I would agree with Chris that Jordan will pursue more magic than more flourishing, even though is he the chops to do so.

I'm pretty sure any 'outsider' to flourishing would think that the virts sped up their video. I used to think Brian Tudor sped up his videos, along with jordan lapping (that is before i knew how quick he actually was, and when u consider he practices for upwards of 10 hours a day, you could expect such results.). Three of the virtuoso members have been flourishing for like 3 years or more, so they're really fast and smooth. As I also said in a previous topic, laymen generally see things slower than we do, and moves can look like just a blur for some.

Interesting topic. I think in order to be considered a flourishing "god", one must be skilled in all areas of flourishing. Very few people can meet this criteria. Some names that come to my mind are Jerry Cestkowski and Bone.
As far as the next person to be added, I'm not sure there are any flourishers that fit the bill quite yet.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Vinnie C.

Hmm. Hard to tell who the next card-god will be, but I can tell you this:
Bone as well as Virtuoso are going to throw out some crazy stuff. :D
Also, I guess most of you haven't seen Bone's or Virtuoso's magic, it would blow you away.
And about that guy's dad saying Virtuoso's video was sped up. It wasn't. I've met two of those guys in person, and they are just as fast and smooth, in fact, they were even more impressive live. :D

Maxv321, Jrunst3n, Digital Artist 6, xLOOMx, and webghost1 all have great potential. I'm waiting for the end of the HL tournament just to see who comes out on top and what these guys come up with. It'll be awe inspiring to see Maxv321 in a couple of years since he's at such a young age. Not even being able to drive yet. :(
Ciappi is pretty established getting his teaching section on XB II and such. FatFingerz, I'd consider him already established considering he landed himself a nice television spot in his home country for everyone to see.

I dont think saying who will be the next flourishing god is a fair question, as its all just opinions and peoples personal preference.
Theirs so many good flourishers on the scene at the curent time, wouldnt be fair to say that one guy is the best.

Right now there is only one really flourishing "god" and that is the flourishman Jerry C. The main attribute that you need to be a God, is immortality. Since none of these johnny-come-lately kids have been prolific enough to say, release encyclopedias, DVDs, and the like, their "work" (at this point) will not leave a lasting mark, and will not stand the test of time.
If you really want to intelligently, quantitatively define who the next person is that will supercede J.C. (notice his initials are the same as, um, another famous figure in history?), it won't be someone that has just been flourishing for a couple years (which is almost everyone) Ergo, we won't see the next flourishing "god" for at least a decade, or longer, depending on how long the Flourishman continues to practice. I doubt that any of these kids practice nearly as much as the adults that have devoted themselves to this.
of course, that's thinking monotheistically, IF there can be a group of gods, then yeah singapore would probably be the next metaphorical Olympus. but Jerry would still Pwn on them with lighting bolts.

Ha, I love topics like this because yes, we all like the people mentioned so far but we can't be quite shure yet because as another member said, the person may not be a person we know yet. It could be a person who we barely see around the forums who might "pretend" to be new when they might be 13 and know almost everything there is to Flourishes and may be much better than most of us.
We just cant tell yet, yet there are many people now that post videos quite often.
If fact it could be a person without a camera and just practices all day.
All in all We dont know who the next "God" is.

For someone to be a God? It would just be someone who as spent more time and achieved more in his art than you. A God can only be God if you let it.
Publishing a DVD or book protects your material and helps you earn a living off of your art while giving back to the community. Why wouldn't they be able to? I'm pretty sure anyone who knows a little something about word processing can release a phamplet or two, or better yet some pdf's for the web. Course if their doing it on their own it can take a while.

It would be impossible to be a God because everyone would have to believe you are one, at the exact same time.
We all know that the world has more things to care about then a "God" at flourishing.
